Mycotoxins are present in up to 80% of feed around the world, showing severe impact on animal health, welfare and performance in beef and dairy and as a final consequence, productivity.
Anneliese Mueller, PhD. (Global Product Manager Mycotoxins) will provide details from the dsm-firmenich Mycotoxin Survey, the longest running survey on mycotoxins in the world. It features the contamination of Q1 and Q2 2023 in specific feeds and roughages used in ruminants and the risk they pose.
Johannes Faas, MSc., responsible for scientific trials in ruminants at dsm-firmenich, will share insights on physiological and metabolic consequences of mycotoxins in beef and dairy with focus on:
Lastly, Ignacio Artavia, MSc. will present the Differential Diagnosis for Mycotoxicoses in Ruminants, a useful tool designed for problem-solving in dairy and beef farming and differentiating the root causes between 4 categories: management, nutrition, diseases and mycotoxins. After participation, the tool will be available to all viewers!
Moreover, we will present a novel trial in collaboration with the University of Sao Paulo, where the advantage and efficacy of mycotoxin deactivation through biotransformation is shown against typical adsorption strategies.
