Folic acid (Vitamin B9)

dsm-firmenich ESSENTIAL PRODUCTS

B group vitamins act as coenzymes on different metabolic pathways and, in many biochemical reactions multiple B-group vitamins are involved at the same time. Their presence is fundamental for the normal functioning of the organism.

Folic acid: the vitamin of genetic information molecules

Folic acid is the synthetic form of the naturally occurring folates and tetrahydrofolic (THF) acid is the eactive form. The synthesis of both DNA and RNA depend on folic acid and folate coenzymes play an important role in the metabolism of several aminoacids. Folate deficiency during pregnancy can cause severe consequences in the fetus.
